At the factory we put gunwale molding on in 12ft sections however shipping restrictions require that we cannot ship over 6′ lengths.  The holes are pre-drilled.  The current molding requires #4 screws so if you are fitting a new piece on an older boat you may want to order the screws as well because screw sizes have varied over time.
