The rudder blade hold down pins are small black pins made out of plastic that are built to brake away if the rudder hits something. The pins are 3/16″ and come in a package of 5.  Usually when the hold down pins are being used a hole is drilled in the rudder head and blade in both the up and down positions so that they can be utilized in and out of the water.
